Compression... compression... compression!

If only I had the original....
The compression artifacts spoiled the soup!

Yes some smudging was involved.

Started out using CIBO techniques to enhance the shadow/highlights. Merged in some GREYCstoration, Toadies Metalwork and Flaming Pear's Mr. Contrast, then smudging. Enhanced the Sat/Colors too.

Thought i would have a go.

Applied a Gradient Map AL and changed blend to Luminosity, masked out parts of the water to soften the effect.

Thanks Craig. What I dubbed as CIBO is done doing the following (same attributes in PS, so it should work there too, but I like using GIMP). Dup for a total of three layers, set the Top layer to [C]olor and [I]nvert the center layer. [B]lur (for simple sharpening, I usually set it to 5) the center layer and set it to [O]verlay.

I know I haven't been posting as often; I guess I'm spread quite thin with all the boards that I frequent. I still usually read all the post, and though I don't comment on most of all of you all's stuff, I'm quite impressed with the work here.

I am so glad you all are enjoying this one. I love what everyone has done with it!

(I know I have been gonde for a while from here - been busy with work and trying to learn more on the photography side here. Got some good news though - I am about to start selling some prints at a store locally. Wish me luck! )
