Creative Interpretation:Flower

Here's a flower to play with, oh and a bee, and a dog.

I keep thinking that someone "tricksier" than I could make a cool composite.

Have fun,
Annabel

Here's Westie and the Bee.

That's a handsome dog. Is he yours, Annabel?

Yep, Pan Pan that's what I was thinking. Just couldn't figure out where to put the flower, yours is a lot better placement than what I've been trying. Nice work... Thanks.

And yes, sort of, he's my daughter's dog. This was one of his cleaner days, being white, he gets looking pretty dirty.

Thanks again, can I try some art effects with your version?

Annabel

Nice work, Panpan! Since I had to do something different, I decided to let the "sleeping" bee and his flower bed shade the sleeping dog... Used the blue channel to make the mask.

You're welcome, Annabel. Of course, you can modify my version. In case you need this formally, you own the copyright to it.

That's a fun interpretation, CJ! The shadow even works! For my part, I used Color Range to select the flower and bee. I decided to try that because of Swampy's explanations in the "Dramatic Sky" thread. I found it a good starting point. I cleaned it up with the eraser and the history brush.

CJ,

lol Very clever.

Channels huh? Could you give a short discription of how you used channels to make the mask?

Thanks

Annabel

Good one, Steve!

Glad you folks liked it, and hope the shade let the pup snooze a bit longer.

Annabel, I made a copy of the blue channel (because it showed more contrast between the bloom and the background than the R or G channel) and ran Levels to increase the contrast -- trying to use the image itself to make the mask as much as possible so that I didn't have to paint over areas and worry about my edges overlapping. The levels adjustment helped but I still had to dodge/burn and even do a bit of painting to get rid of the last bits, but still it was easier than having to paint a quick mask and then erase a lot of my mistakes -- I can't draw a straight line, or a curved one either -- wobbly is the only line my hand can draw without a straightedge.
