Steve, Nice work. Fun pic to work on Danny, thanks.

I used "David Roley Inspired Hayes Cafe" action, with a bunch of tweaks.

Impressionist plugin (mostly style=#djrOil24) and I (too) am trying to get something close to Corona's "visible canvas" (in places) effect using the Alien Skin Splat plugin.

Great Picture, Danny!

I wanted to achieve an impressionistic feel using PhotoShop only. This only took about five minutes

1. Duplicated the background and set blend mode for Multiply at 50% opacity. This really sharpens the picture without blowing out whites and reduces any grainyness.

2. Changed the sky color to blue using Hue/Saturation.

3. Merged all layers.

4 Ran the Facet filter about 20 times. (Command+F/Control+F will rerun the last run filter again in PhotoShop).

5. Ran Texturizer and loaded a marble paper with scale and relief set to high values.

6. Cropped.

The textured effect makes it look like it was painted on a concrete wall, which I really like.

Is the Marble texture one that shipped with Photoshop or is it from another source?

I found it HERE

There are a couple other good textures there, too. They are all high-res and take a while to download, but well worth the effort.

You can grab these and resize them for a smaller file and put them in the Textures folder.

- - - - - -

Additional info from Danny

Swampy: Thanks for the link!

IMPORTANT: To download
* Right-click on one of the texture file links
* From the fly-out menu, choose "Save target as..."
* Save to a convenient folder on your hard drive

To get these to work in Photoshop, they must be opened and saved as grayscale in .psd (Photoshop) file format.

When all downloads complete
* Open each file in Photoshop
* Image > Mode > Grayscale (yes, it's OK to discard color info)
* Save as... (.psd)

Location: Photoshop doesn't really care.
* One option is your Photoshop version equivalent of

C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop 7.0\Presets\Textures
* Another option is a personal textures folder, e.g., \MyTextures

In either event, to use your new saved textures, you can apply them using the Filter > Texture > Texturizer filter
* From the Texture menu scroll down to "Load texture..."
* Navigate to the folder where the texture file(s) were saved in .psd format.

Annabel.......thanks for the kind comments.

Palms..........and thanks to you too!

Danny.......Super work on that one. The best ones always seem to use plugins that I don't have. 8-) (So many plugins...so little time.)

Nice work everyone. I took an expressionistic approach with Studio Artist and PS.

Mine is a cross between photoshop and painter, this i think looks like one of the finished paintings we did as kids with the number paints and canvas board.

All Aboard!

Craig you need to get out more!

No seriously

That is wicked.

I also like your sense of humor have been kind of following you about this past few days and your humor is very funny.

thanks danny, legacy

had a lot of fun doing that one.

well, i always wanted my own stalker, legacy, so, you gots the job as for getting out more, boy, you hit the nail on the head there. i spend my mornings at work, but the rest of the day is mine... and usually spent behind the computer. i'm a certified 'old fart' at 55 and the couch and computer chair, whereas are not necessarily more appealing than say, chasing women (yes, i'm single) they are at least more accessible and require less maintenance...most of the time

as for my humor, i lean waaaay more towards british humor than american. american humor these days amounts to 'we need to club you on the head with our humor for you to get it' and i just find that insulting. british humor kind of sneaks up on you and tickles you... much more to my liking

Because people are concerned about the environment and oil supplies, the trolley system will be popular again.
