Signatures

Not sure where this should have gone, but i shall add here your welcome to move this if needed Danny.

Ok i would like to know where is a signature suppose to go, being left handed i prefer to add to the left side of the paintings etc, but i am told its suppose to be on the right side of the picture, why is that?

What is the correct position a signature should be please?

legacy,

i dont know if there is a 'correct' position for the sig. i've seen it on the left, right, top and bottom of pictures and paintings. however, i would suggest that it might make more sense to put it on the bottom right because of the way we read, from top left to bottom right and a signature is like saying 'the end'. but i certainly would also think that if it's more aestheticaly pleasing to be elsewhere, then fine.

Craig

Craig, I agree. Signatures are most often in the lower right hand corner, but it can go almost anywhere. It may also be considered a part of the painting and used to balance it out...........................use your artistic license!
