I was in "try it" mode. Couldn't decide which one to upload, so I merged them into a single image:
* Top row: Unmodifed
* Andromeda > Screens
* Nik Color eFex Pop art
* Bottom row: Photoshop Smart Blur Edge Only (blurred) + chrome-like Layer Style applied after knocking out the white
* The Plugin Site > Pop art (this plugin used to be free) + Andromeda Screens
* Alien Skin Snap Art

| Well thanks for that news Danny, I have to do a LOT of driving in and around London. Maybe some holiday is in order, OH I could watch it on the box instead of watching the traffic outside the grounds.

Check Amazon, Bestbuy, sites like that for current prices. I'd speculate the price of CS3 will probably be around 10% higher than current prices for CS2.
The past few releases PS upgrades have run in the $139-$199 range. CS3 upgrade will most likely be near the top of that range.

...back to the thread topic, did you use Painter X trial on this interpretation? That's a very unique look. If so, what can you tell us about the brushes or features you used? |

| | | Re: Creative interpretations: Football player I down loaded the trial version of Painter 10. You can use it for 30 days to decide if you can used it. When I was on line I found these videos on the corel site: http://www.corel.com/servlet/Satelli.../1170190221936
I viewed it one to get a better understanding of the features and how to use the software. One nice feature is auto painting: windows > auto painting.
A dialog box will show. From there you can choose and brush ( I used a smear brush) and you can choose a stroke. You hit a go button and the program basically paints the photo for you with the brush strokes you chose. (when you open your photo you must also choose quick clone - again watch the videos). In the auto painting dialog box there is also a restoration button what will allow you to go back to the photo and bush over areas where you want detail...I brushed the face, ball, arms etc. Like photo-shop there are so many possibilities and so much to learn...but it is fun! |

Could you please post the result you got from Painter X? I'm also thinking about buying that product and I'd like to see what it can do.

Check the football player (red uniform) in the center of this page. How does one achieve this smooth look. Not the area around the player but the player himself..the uniform, helmet, etc. It does look painted. Is this achieve through smuge or air brush? Any guidance would be appreciated. |

| | | Re: Creative interpretations: Football player The first image was buzzed in Photoshop then used Acrylic brushes in Painter 9. The windows-auto painting feature in Painter X sounds interesting. 9 has a similar feature under Esoterica - auto clone.
The 2nd image was buzzed slightly then applied stylize-anistropic filter quite a few times; then some smudging and more noise removal. Don't know if this helps the smoothing question.
