Craig, no problem from me on what ya did. I've got this vision now after seeing the water, to put them on a small deserted island with the ocean as a background, of course there will have to be a moon in it

I know it is different. No matter what was in my mind, this wanted to come out.

Wow... I am not getting any "real" work done, but I am having fun. I used this technique on a previous mini-challenge and thought it would look good here as well.

Enjoy!

Absolutely, I kept being drawn back to this because of that. To be honest the first time I saw it, I passed it over, didn't see anything in it, but now I can't get the darn thing out of my head!

I like it! I have a lot in my mind that wants to come out, but it seems to get lost in the translation

I really like the work that is being done in this thread. The picture brings out all sorts of "mood", which people are interpreting.

RL, yours is probably the most dreamy and old fashioned. I like it. It reminds of of a Victorian card.

Janet - very different. Surreal in the true sense of the word and very creative. I agree about this thread. Seems we are all responding to the mood of the picture, as well as the technical challenge.

Janet -- Love it!

Janet!!! Oooooooh, I love that! I stand corrected -- it's NOT just the lights/shadows -- it's the emotion of the two dancers -- his gaze into her eyes as his strong muscles hold her delicate body...

Very creative, intense, lovely!

Danny, you sure come up with some fantastic photos! Like others, the light and shadow, expression and sense of motion drew me in.

Since they are "on stage" I thought some lighting effects would be appropriate. I also wanted to capture them as sort of a statue. Ergo the soft green.

Masked out the dancers, made a duplicate file and made it a duotone with the soft green and black. brought that back into the original, added the tripple spots and a b/w gradient layer to dampen the lighting effect.

Added a layer of soft smoke for the stage. (Painted with a blotchy brush in the soft green color, gausian blur and added film grain). Didn't want to go overboard because the male dancer needs to look "grounded". I tried a more ethereal effect, but just got the feeling that he didn't have a solid enough base and might drop the girl...LOL

Desaturate, tonal correction, motion blur in background little bit, cropping.
