How about something with a touch of culture?

Light and Shadow

I couldn't get a Degas out of this one (I recently posted a series of renderings on other forums that were my version of a Degas style). This one had too much shadow and darkness to get the feel of Degas. Hope I at least did a half way decent oil rendering anyway. :)

With the dramatic lighting, I thought this would make a great oil pastel

Cutout

Tried something different. Used the dramatic outline to do a cutout. Replaced background, and filled both new background and foreground. Added pattern, gradient.

I especially like the way you handled the edges/background transistion. That's a really cool effect.

Chester:

It sure helps to have creative vision for what's possible beyond the base image and a bit of twisted wit. I can see already you're well qualified on both fronts! :)

Wow, what a beautiful thread!! Congratulations to all!

I especially liked garazon's very sensitive manipulation.
Great control over colours and mood.

This is a fantastic idea. You enhanced the mood tremendously. Very good control of the lighting too. My favorite thus far. :)
