Pushing the envelope, er...ball

Made a series of boxes and circles in PS. Applied Medhi kalaidoscope then Distort, Spherize. Selected sphere, copied to new layer. Added new BG and detail from photo of my grandson at the playground.

Think you have great ideas photomaster, loved the last one you did....

Had another play and this is what happened, I first smudged the Cosmos in Twisted brush...a free program....then i did the small flowers in the background with the art history brush in Photoshop...KPT hypertiling...edges in Paintshop Pro 9...

Kind regards Patricia Kay..

very cool, patricia. i like the first one just a bit more.

i'm glad to see we're moving a bit away from straight kaleidoscopes and totally mirrored images. that was the intent.

Then there is my personal favorite, Flaming Pear's Polymerge. This makes a composite of several works that I have previously worked on with PSP8 and various filters.

I call this first one "Kitty."
Full size version at http://bigbluebird.com/kitty.jpg

Second one is a kaleidoscope that I ran through VP impasto then used FP flexify on it. Full version at http://www.bigbluebird.com/studyinblueandwhite.jpg

Tesssellations.

Some extremely cool info on tessellations (such as Escher's versions) can be found here. I used techniques from this site to create this tesselation. The GIMP pattern file is also attached (for those who want to play). Just use this pattern and fill the selection.
