| | | Geometrics, Shapes, and Designs! since we have a 'mosaics' thread, and since i just found a new plugin (well, new to me. the xero plugins that danny referenced in another thread), i thought i'd post a recent example of that plugin and start a new thread with it. this is actually a very common theme for 'art' and yet i've not seen one here before. it's not necessarily photo art, but i think that would be ok.
so, the theme here is post one of your own design or create something with something someone else posts. make your own, or alter someone else's. these shld be geometric designs, or shapes or patterns or anything similar.
also, unless you specify otherwise, ANY image posted here shld be with the understanding that someone else is free to alter that same image and post another version of it. so, if you really DON'T want someone else copying and altering yours, just say so when you post it. otherwise, they are all free game
and as danny always says, 'have fun!'.

| | Hi Craig
Dont think i have understood where you want to go with this thread, but as so far i am the only one having a go, you will have to put up with me
For these i used a photo "hanks Rose" from a previous challenge and the Mehdi plug in Kaleidoscope 2.1 from here http://www.mehdiplugins.com/english/kaleidoscope.htm
(just in case thank you Danny again ! !)
The only thing is, it is fun and so i have spent some time playing with it

| | In case some of you weren't aware there is an older thread in this forum entitled kaleisoscopes. You might want to check it out. It has been just a tad more than popular in the past.

| | palms,
that's exactly what i meant. so, yer fine
and to janet, i'll answer your last p.m here. thanks for the link to the kaleidoscope thread. i'm going to leave this thread here as a broader topic than just the kaleidoscope one. this would be for all geometric ar, pattern art, shape art and so on. philbach's example is a perfect one that would fit here, but not so well in the kaleidoscope one. yes, my first example i posted here would have fit very well in the other thread, but my intention for this new thread was for all types of geometric art (and there's a LOT of it out there). the kaleidoscope thread could easily have been a sub thread of this one had this thread existed first.
but, thank you for posting that link. i had not seen that thread before and it's a VERY good one! even got a plugin there and that's always worth a visit
btw, very nice, philbach. wish that program existed for windows too.

| | | Well, mine's not "perfect", but I had fun trying to do a butterfly keildoscope so that you can actually see butterflies and they don't get totally lost in the transition. |

| | This is sort of a fractal program, but gives really ethereal results. The first is the original, the second after using the PSP8 rotating mirror.
Original full size at http://bigbluebird.com/apooriginal.jpg
<orrored at http://bigbluebird.com/apophythislarge.jpg
Program is Apophysis 2.0. You'd have to Google it to find it. Freebie.

| | | That's cool Amy. Looks like the classic Butterfly model (use to be very big into fractals in the '80s; still enjoy the art out of the chaos thats at its core). |

| | Well Craig you've hit on another addictive subject. Love kaleidoscopes since my dad gave me one when I was 3 or 4 years old.
I am not sure up to how many files can be uploaded in one post so will post two here and two more in a subsequent one.
I made them in Ulead PhotoImpact v.6 and used the kaleidoscope filter (I am so clever ) The original is a screen shot of the Alchemy visual of Windows Media Player.
See you in the next post |

| | This is the last installment, the original is an image downloaded from Morguefile or ElDorado can't quite remember and the effect is like the previous one the Kaleidoscope filter of Ulead Photo Impact V.6.
Hope you like them !
Regards and thank you for reviving this thread ! |
