http://65.5.254.8/ wouldn't load in either Opera or Safari for mac. Connection closed by remote server

Can you list the other links you would like tested?

ok, i've changed the port stuff a bit to allow this to work. i've had one person check it and i've also set up a proxy so that i can tell when it's working or not. seems to be fine now.

http://65.5.254.8:8080 that's the web page. i've changed the other links as well, the ones to the movies/animations. so, it shld be good to go now

Hi Craig.

The link in your last post take us to a page that says “Enter”
Pressing that takes us to a page that says “Restoration”
Pressing that takes us to a page that shows restored tintype pictures
The link in your post No12 is the same as above.

There are No flowers and No Craig’s plaice. Just the ‘Enter’ link to
http://65.5.254.8:8080/My_Universe.html

Your original link (post No.2) is now working
http://65.5.254.8:8080/ToMarilyn1-k-1t.swf

thanks ken. that is most appreciated!

ok, let's see if i cant make this easier for folks to click.

http://65.5.254.8:8080 the web server

http://65.5.254.8:8080/The_Rose_5.wmv is the rose slide show.

http://65.5.254.8:8080/ToMarilyn1-k-1t.swf shld be the marilyn flash.

the first web page shld have a background of some blue flowers, large white words saying 'Craig's Place', and the word 'Enter'.

'Enter' takes you to a sort of table of contents pages with a background picture of the hubble deep space picture of galaxies, a small version (the original is like 52 megs or so). there shld be a listing of other pages on the left, one saying 'Restorations'. that's the only one that currently has any other links to it.

'Restorations' takes you to a third page on which shld be found a plain white background, the words 'Restorations', followed by 'Tintypes:', followed by 'Before' and 'After'. then, there shld be 3 sets of pictures. those are the befores and afters of the tintypes restored.

my friend tried this and got to the third page and could load everything but the first set of pictures. not sure why, but she just got the little red X there and couldnt right click and 'show picture'. she could, but it wouldnt display. so, not sure what's going on there. when i tried it through the proxy it all loaded for me, slowly, but it loaded.

and before i had all this trouble i had also tried this with Internet Explorer and it looks different than what my Mozilla shows. i composed this all from Mozilla's 'Composer', so I.E. may not like it.

obviously i'm quite new at this. so, all the feedback i can get is much appreciated. i know different browsers tend to see things differently, so not sure how to correct for that. that some of the pictures and backgrounds arent loading for some folks is a bit of a conundrum also. at the moment, i'm just glad i finally got the passthrough worked out, but i'll work on this more and, like i said, anyone that wishes to chime in, your help is most welcome!

the boondoggle that is networking has always been one of those things i've shied away from, but it would seem i'm going to have to actually learn something here if i want to proceed
