Mars rising under a cresent Moon

This is a night shot of the moon, over Corpus Christi Bay, taken from Mustang Island, on the Gulf coast of Texas. The eight second exposure, at iso 100, had significant noise which was handily removed with Photoshop CS2's "remove noise" filter at the default setting. Goodbye Neat Image!

Oh, and the Mars image, courtesy of NASA, and was extracted and layered in, with a 3 pixel feather radius, since the colors blend so well with the rest of the photo.

Be sure to click on the image, in your browser, to view at full resolution.

Thanks for the encouragement. Alas, I am still just a hobbiest and have never sold any of my creations. However, I sure have saved a lot of money by not having to buy gifts. This year I plan to start a commercial venture; probably a website. I am two years into retirement and have been having too much fun to get too serious about business.

photomaster,

ok, now you sound like me...'just a hobby'...'who would buy it'...'i wouldnt know where to go to sell them'...'i dont want to be a salesman/distributor; that's not what i do'...etc, etc. there would seem to be a lack of art distributors in the world, someone who you could take a finished image and go, 'here, reproduce and sell this and send me my check'. artists are technicians. that's their 'hat', but they need some administrative type folks to get their work out there. and that seems to be lacking.

i notice so many good pieces here on retouch, but that's just it, they are on retouch and not being produced and sold. if i were a bit more ambitious i'd love to take some of these, blow them up on canvases or put them in frames and open a store or find some distributors. it would be a great way to promote and reward some very good artists.
