| | Here is my attempt at an oil pastel look.
Successful? I am not so sure but it was fun and I do like the results as a work of photoart. |

| | | here's one using several different plugins on several different duplicated layers set with several different blend modes. the two primary plugins used were Funhouse 'turbine mirror' and dreamy suite's 'DS Bonus- ghosted' preset. there was also some hand painting on a blank raster layer, duplicated several times and set to different blend modes.
the hardest part was in picking a variation of all the blend modes possible on all the different layers.

| | patricia,
thank you
attached is the layer palette for that one.
one of the reasons i love digital so much is that it takes the 'fear of mistakes' out of the equation, to a large extent. dont like it, made a mistake, hit the Undo button! i tried oil painting years and years ago and could just never find the Undo button, so gave it up

| | | Petunia... Thanks for your layer palette Craig...advanced a little more yesterday and managed 4 layers and managed to move them about...if i can learn a little each day i am happy....i used to do watercolors and if you make a mistake it can destroy the whole picture...i think with oils you can just paint over, so its a little better...i had 4 largeish canvas s bought for a Christmas presant..so i have decide to have a go in acrylics..flowers of course...in big... all help and comments gratefully received...
msfrigifrog, certainly does look like a nice trivit, what a good idea...

| | patricia,
yup, a little each day does wonders.
i shld also mention with the oils, or any other painting as far as that goes, that my drawing looks like neolithic cave painting. so, that's the other reason i gave it up thus, my hat's off to anyone who can actually paint, oil, watercolor or otherwise.

| | | Craig i think the important thing with any hobby we take up is that we have fun and like our own results...Painting with different mediums is not everyones cup of tea, being able to draw is another matter...being self taught, i know my drawings are not perfect...but you could always do abstract as long as the colors sing...Agree though that digital art is an amazing thing and very addictive...
