Having a good photo to work with sure makes it easier, eh? I was working in a sort of classic landscape vein here, or at least that was the intention.

hehehe, boy, i guess that was sort of a sneaky way to get extra praise there. it really wasnt intended, at least not consciously, so, thank you again

it took a while to get some inspiration on that one. i've been playing around so much with filter forge and had tried several effects using FF on that image, but just wasnt coming up with anything i really liked. it wasnt till i hit on the twilight idea that things came together and didnt even use FF on it

WOW, this thread really took off with some great creativity and examples to match. I'm so glad you are all having so much fun with the bluff and the river.

Oltenius, both of your versions show great creativity are are bright and vibrant. Quite striking.

Godmother, simply beautiful.

Steve Conway, your smudged and softened one is pretty. Personally, I'd like to see a bit more depth to the brush strokes; but that may be because this old lady is blind as a bat. The frame is a good touch.

jch, yours is abstracted in a good way. Nice use of the brushes.

PatriciaKay, very different and very dramatic. I liked.

Barbara, I really love your style. This picture shows it off well. Your gimp mastery on a linux machine is wonderful. Just don't tell my husband I said so because he's been after me to go linux for years. He's a linux kernal developer btw.

Mr. Monday (or Murray for short), you have a perfect sci-fi execution here. So when does the book come out?

Kiska, what do I say to my friend...? ...that she is simply amazing. Your SA abilities have moved into the realm of master. Great job.

dkcoats, lovely, moody, and evocative of impending rain. Love the texture. I'd hang this one on my wall. Thumbs up.

Pavel, also moody. Has a good brush flow and looks like it belongs on a wall hanging. I like it.

Kraelin, I love the crop, the colors, the contrast, and especially the sky. In fact, yours looks quite a bit like a real sunset picture I took there a few weeks ago...only mine turned out blurry because hand holding a camera in that kind of light wasn't the wisest choice.

Keep up the good pictures folks.

Janet
