John....Lovely work on the poppy and the background is great too....

Craig....Thankyou for your nice comments ...I am having fun trying to paint in Painter...my son is coming for a visit from England tomorrow and bringing me the Jeremy Sutton Painter book....so hopefully i will improve at a greater speed....Have taken many poppy photos and when i have a mo i will do an album of them...will post you the link and then maybe you will find some to use in your filter work....

Nice interpretation of the frilly poppy....its a new one for me and today one came into flower completely white...its really pretty...

Pat, thanks for next poppies
I run Gimpressionist (- one of the standard filters in Gimp) with some
experimental settings, and then bump-map filter to make it more 3D

I used Gimp

Barbara...you are welcome to the new pics...love your rendition of the pink poppy....your work is really good...i am enjoying looking at it...link below in words for Craig if you want to paint more poppys you can post them here..

Craig...At last i have put a few of my poppy photos in an album...more to come over the eekend...please feel free to use any that will enhance your filter forge filters...

oh my lord, you have 3 1/2 pages of them! wow! we're going to have to start a 'garden' forum here on RP

that is ever so sweet of you, patricia; thank you!

and i may take you up on that offer. i have a somewhat strange filter i've been working on that is sort of colored pencil/crayon/waxy/cheesecloth sort of thing. i put some examples on the filter forge gallery under a 'name this filter' thread if you want to see it. and you could also help me name the silly thing i'm still not sure what to call it.
