thanks palms, on both counts the folks over at filter forge suggested it looked a bit like wax or cheesecloth so i may go with 'cheesy wax' or 'waxy cheese'

next Gimp version

and here my next version
to simulate aniso-look I used Gimp's greycstoration plugin, then changed
colours by channels manipulations, and then used nice canvas texture (thanks Sherry!)
