Palms, thank you.

I did a quick 10 minutes job. Then I looked at the posted picture and finally saw all those jagged edges. Try to re-post the corrected verion (edges blirred).

Btw, I think the approach sort of get around the "baldness" problem. One can always say "there is lots of hair, you just can't see..."

trying...

Started with a tweaked copy from the blue channel to get a sky mask, a water mask and a rock mask. Worked on each section separately to enhance contrast, detail.
