started this with dupe layer and gausian blur that layer, then set the blur mode to darken.

then i did something i havent used in a while, native to psp (and probably ps as well). i used the 'arithmetic' filter. this isnt even in the normal 'effects' menu. but, it's a powerful filter for combining images in arithmetical ways and can give some interesting results.

i did several separate images like this and kept adding some of them into the base image file and then used various blend modes.

after that it was 'brush strokes' and after that i used 'sandstone'.

all native stuff to psp

i had to cut the image size down and still had to set compression at 31

Oh my, Craig. It looks like you painted with a barbed wire brush. Neat effect.

hehe, what makes you think i didnt use barbed wire?

i liked the challenge. i find myself using filters a lot but i've also noticed that a 'personal touch' often makes a rendering just a bit better. so, this challenge reminds me of that.
