| Steve...I really like the colors and detail you have brought out... I have had a go in Painter....trying to get to grips with it... Used Dens Funky Chunky and Dens Lucious oil brushes...changing the brush size as i went on..took it into photoshop and added lighting and an action for the frame... Patricia... PS....Lots of different pics in the link if you care to have a look! |

| Wasn't as happy with this rendering as some I have done. This, for some reason, was a difficult image to get anything I was happy with. So Glad it looks ok to you. About Painter, I have heard pro and con as to how much the program does for you with it's settings etc., and how much actual brush and pad work you need to do from scratch. I tried Painter Essentials 3 and couldn't get a decent image with it, so I gave up. That is why I am trying to find out if IX5 is any better. The images I have seen done with it, like yours, look great. But if it doesn't help with effects etc. like Paint Shop Pro or PS, then I don't think it would be worth it to me. I am still investigating , so one never knows. Steve Quote:

| Steve...Before you splash out on Painter...which i think is a great program....do try Deep Paint...its a free one and i like it very much, you can clone your photo in there and there are many, many brushes to choose from...also it runs in conjunction with Photoshop...do you have that? and if its installed correctly i think should copy the photoshop plugins to DeepPaint...will have to check that out as a long time ago i installed the first free Deep Paint and it did it in there but i have just been into the newer version and the plugins are not there...but any way you can put in whatever you want manually... http://www.download.com/Deep-Paint/3...ml?tag=lst-0-1 So there you have the link....I have the manuel should you need it! Palms...Two nice effects ...bet the sketch one is good... Patricia |

| Patricia, Beautiful landscapes (or waterscapes?). Is that in Sweden? Watercolor rendering. Base picture was made in Painter (digital watercolor cloning), color adjustments, textures in Photoshop. Pavel |

| Pavel...Like this...its a lovely soft painting of the coastline at the other side of the island...only 10 minutes walk from home... It is Sweden, we live out on one of the thousands of islands about 40minutes drive from Stockholm, a long and thin island joined by a bridge...Its a beautiful place summer and winter... Patricia... |

| Hi Patricia, Seeing your pictures brought back a lot of pleasant memories. I spent a lot of time in the 1970s working in the Baltic (I was a Deck Officer on Oil Tankers), and visited Sweden quite often. |

| Hi Gary... Your painting is lovely, really like the texture and frame too.... Glad to have brought some happy memories back to you...its like that when i see photos or something on the tele about Leeds and surrounding areas... From the balcony at the back of our house to the left the water goes out to the Baltic sea and to the right down to Stockholm...If you remember the old town in Stockholm I have some photos I will post at a later date...Its a lovely city and you are never far from water ways... Patricia..... |

| That would be nice. I vaguely remember Stockholm, but after 30 odd years vague is definitely the word. I'll dig out a few Leeds pictures for you in return. |

| Patricia, I have both Deep Paint, (uninstalled), and Painter Essentials 3, (now uninstalled, but did try it out before removing it.) I had absolutely no luck with Painter Essentials 3. Not an artist so have to rely on software for help. If Deep Paint is similar to Painter Essentials 3 then it won't work for me. May still give it a try, but still undecided. Am still working on the image we discussed earlier. Seem to get a little closer but still not the look I am after. Is the Deep Paint Manual you have a hard copy or on a file? Steve Quote:

| Steve... I have Painter Essentials 2 it came a a free software with my Wacom Tablet and I tried 3 as a trial...Painter is so much more...so many brushes but i think it is aimed at painters as opposed to manipulating photos...So much to learn in there but i have done few paintings i am really happy with..many i am not!!! Its a long learning curve and patience is the key... Deep Paint I love as i said this is the 2nd free program of it i have used...Its worth a try and if you get stuck there are a few of us using it...the manuel is in zip format as its quite a size but very informative...i can zip it to you if you want to have a read... Havent palyed with the Lucis pic for a few days but will when i get all the other stuff done! Patricia.... |

Surely I love the Photoshop AHB which has tremendous possibilities and I’m trying to learn its powers. Your photo has nice colors and composition and really tempting you to play with it. Here is another couple of my attempts with AHB and with the Impressionist plug-in. |

| Hi Patricia, Spent many a happy childhood hour in the open air pool at Roundhay, used to cycle there, then spend all day in the pool, the water was always freezing cold, even on a hot summers day. Alas it is no more, and is now just a car park. The old Mansion House at Roundhay is also scheduled to become a Council Office Block. Needless to say there is an active campaign group against this, lets hope they are successful. Until fairly recently Temple Newsham was involved in breeding rare farm animal species, but this work was severely hit by the foot and mouth outbreaks of a few years back, and I don't think they've recovered from it yet. Certainly there are a lot fewer animals there now than there were (I'm not sure whether they may have even stopped the programme). I'll be there today to see how the Chestnut trees are coming on. I always go chestnut collecting at Temple Newsham round about this time of year. It's a bit early, but all the fruit and nut trees seem to be producing early this year, so thought I'd better check. |

| Steve....Like what you have done to my photos...the statues one i particularly like the effect ...the detail is great and the colors pop... Alex...Two more lovely ones from you...I really like the second one...nice brush strokes and detail...There are many more sea scape photos if you want to click on the link in the first post...it was a beautiful day when i took them so they needed no enhacement... Gary...I hope you enjoyed your walk at Temple Newsam today...I was there in spirit! Did you take the lovely dog Sasha with you? Hope they leave the Mansion House alone...they take over too many of the old buildings and totally destroy them with modern looks...Last time i was in there was a party before a Phill Collins concert in the late 80 s...what a brilliant night there were thousands of people at the open air concert...but as you can imagine it took hours to get away! Patricia.... |
