| | | Creative interpretations: Racoons (backyard buddies) I was going through my archives ... found a few pictures of our friendly neighborhood racoons I would like to show. The first picture is that of a baby racoon taken at 3 a.m. The guys were playing on backyard making so much noise... so my neighbors decided at least to take a picture to since they were awake anyways. The other two is an adult racoon making rounds in my backyard...apparently he wanted to make sure I behave on his territory...
Please feel free if you want to artify them.

| | | i.ilievsky, nice cartoon. Been a while since I watched one. Brings back lots of happy memories.
Kiska, great painting. This is my favorite photo...used to think that it speaks for itself... can not be improved by artification...now I see I was mistaken
My try

| | | Re: Creative interpretations: Racoons (backyard buddies) Cute critters. We have them down in Florida, but like the squirrels, they are scrawny - to keep cooler. I used Gertrudis for background and Painter for the watercolors.

| | | Re: Creative interpretations: Racoons (backyard buddies) We had a family of raccoons that walked the shoreline of the lake just about every evening. Then the nextdoor neighbors started feeding them every night and now they don't come by to forrage muscles any more. I keep trying to convince my neighbor that it's not good to feed them. The babies never learn to gather food on their own, get weak and sick. Doesn't do any good, 'cause the neighbors "enjoy watching them eat table scraps". :-(
Anyway, I pulled up Painter (gasp) and did an auto clone with pencils, then used the Water Only blender to smear it up a bit. Took that back into Photoshop, and made a selection of everything except the raccoon's face and copied the selection to a new layer. Added a little bevel and emboss to cast more shadow along the bottom of the upper wood to add more perception of depth in the coon's "peep hole"
Fun project. Thanks, Pavel! :-) |

Swampy: my pleasure.
I don't feed racoons, but they are pretty good in helping themself.

| | | In GIMP, using Glass effects set to overlay to get ... ...a more glossy result for my oil. Did some selective coloring, but no smudging this time (so filters and layer properties again. yea). |
