Sometimes just a touch of old faithful Buzz does the trick.

Re: Old Town,Stockholm.

Pat, we'll have to stop meeting like this....hehe... Some nice stuff on here again from everyone, but you'll have to tell me how you get such a great result with Lucis.
Here's a try with one of those new brushes you linked me to "camel oils high bleed".

Re: Old Town,Stockholm.

Hi Patricia,

No problem.
  • Duplicate image to new layer.
  • Desaturate this new layer, then Duplicate it to a new layer.
  • You should now have 3 layers, top 2 are B&W copies of base layer.
  • Invert top layer, then set blend mode of that layer to Color Dodge.
  • This should give you a white layer.
  • Apply Gaussian blur, and adjust radius to give sketch effect you desire.
  • Finally duplicate the base layer and drag it to the top of your layer stack.
  • Set blend mode of this layer to Color, and adjust layer opacity to get colouring as you like it.

Hope this is clear, anything needs clarifying let me know.

Re: Old Town,Stockholm.

A method similar to Gary's except didn't put any colour back in. Added crosshatch brush strokes and faded with multiply to darken overall.
Shame but the brush stokes don't show up very well at this res.

Re: Old Town,Stockholm.

Steve...Buzz worked well on this one...I think it gives some nice effects...a couple of months ago in my digital photo mag they gave one of the Buzz programs free and i really like what it can do...
Pavel....Really nice....love the white edge too...Thanks for your nice comment!
John...I just play with the sliders in Lucis until i see what i like...but this time i used Neat image as well...someone in the Lucis forum recomended that!
I like how the camel oil brushes worked magic on the photo(with help from you of course)....will pass on more interesting brushes as i find them!
Gary...Thank you so much for taking the time to share the details of how you did your picture...will try it later in the day....painting live to do first!
Peter....Nice in BW, i really like the sketch effects...
dc...I love your Artweaver version...the brush strokes and colors on the water reflection are great...

Thank you all for playing...enjoyed each and every one!

Patricia....

Re: Old Town,Stockholm.

Joeven and FranS. Nice renditions of these nice images. Glad you resurrected this old thread.

I was unable to download any image from the site. I clicked on an image, I zoomed it with a mouse click, then right click on the mouse, nothing happens.

Any solutions, anybody.

Chance

Re: Old Town,Stockholm.

That's a strange one, Chance. I tried saving a couple of images as you described: click, zoom, right click. I didn't have any problem at all. Are you able to download images from other threads?

Re: Old Town,Stockholm.

FranS:
Thanks for the prompt reply. It still does not work.

I can download images from this site, pbase and other sites. I can download the thumbnail of the image (which is 2 x 2 inches and 4k in size). Right Clicking on the image itself does nothing, right clicking just outside the image, will let me link it to facebook etc etc.
I tried both firefox and Internet Explorer, same result.

It could be a firewall, at my end.

Thanks for your help and prompt reply.

I can download this url, whatever that is ?

Re: Old Town,Stockholm.

Found the solution:

In Firefox:

Preferences > Content > Javascript-Advanced > Disable or replace context menus

Once this is done, I can download images from PhotoBucket site.

No idea what to do in Internet Explorer.

Re: Old Town,Stockholm.

Lyle, I really like your version. Looks like a color sketch -- lots of detail. It's amazing how much digital imaging has changed over the last couple years. And you're right -- there are so many more tools available.

Kai, you hit another homerun. Great job. Are you using the Art History Brush?

Excellent Kai and glad you have joined us here too. Not sure if this is your first post here or not, but it's the first one that I noticed you posted here at DPR so a big welcome from me (you better know me as lylejk at the DAP forum).

Fran : I create only one brush for draft before paint and paint by standard ps5 brush but adjust dynamic setting depend on original image.

Re: Old Town,Stockholm.

These are nice pics of Stockholm.

Joeven, lkroll, FranS and Kal, great images particularly froim Kal.

Here are mine, the quality would be awful, since I had to downsize them twice.
I made a variety of styles.

Re: Old Town,Stockholm.

The Lights in one picture, is made by duplicating the layer, blurring one layer slightly, and then applying the differance mode, and you got xmas lighting. It looks great in full resolution, but not so good at 100k size
