| | | Coloring Book Fun - Fat Cat Here's a scan that I thought would be a fun to color just like we did when we were kids. Stay in the lines, go out of the lines. Use your digital crayons, oils, water colors, textures, filters or patterns to paint this coloring book image.
The teacher will be by from time to time to check your work...

| | | Re: Coloring Book Fun - Fat Cat what a fun image. i decided to be a kid again and just daubed massive amounts of bright solid colors all over on a duplicate layer. then the adult took over and cleaned it up a bit hopefully, i left enough of the kid to convey the fun in doing this

| | | Re: Coloring Book Fun - Fat Cat Great idea Swamy, i was tempted to print out and colour, but decided to try and use as few colours as possible, 3 but with the black and white that makes 5 ( see i can do maths as well )
Craig quite a pretty pastel colouring but did you stay in the lines ?

| | | Re: Coloring Book Fun - Fat Cat As you can see, I didn't use as few colors as possible. YeeHaw, I'm a kid again.
Sorry about the reduction in size. No matter what I did seemed to take me over the 100 k limit. I finally settled and posted the picture as you see it.

| | | Re: Coloring Book Fun - Fat Cat Craig - love the soft, contemporary look.
Palms - great use of minimum colors.
Kiska - Wild, yet child like and fun.
Janet - Delightful and colorful!
Gold stars to all.
I added some textures and effects for cat fur, rug, pillow and wood framing. |

| | | Re: Coloring Book Fun - Fat Cat An exercise like this really gives you an appreciation for folks who paint animation cels! I found it tedious, yet relaxing. At one point I had 22 layers and the file size was over 100megs.
I wasn't sure about adding textures, but the cat fur intrigued me. I picked two tabby colors, ran the Render Clouds filter then experimented with textures. I settled on the texture called "Irish Shorthair". For the walls, I used the Render Fibers. For the pillow, I used the Lambs Wool texture and I can't remember what I used for the rug. Might have been Towel or Shag Rug. The small file size doesn't do them justice though. LOL |

| | | Re: Coloring Book Fun - Fat Cat Great idea, Swampy!
What I did...
* Rotated image a bit and cropped (it was not quite level)
* Duplicated Background
* Photoshop Smart Blur to clean up some of the artifacts
* Used Magic Wand to select white and deleted it
* Changed blend mode to Multiply
* Copy/pasted color image below the color book layer
* Applied Nik Color FX Pop Art for the goofy colors
* Applied texture
* Fiddled with colors using Hue/Saturation
* color book layer: Applied a Layer Style (Stroke [white], Bevel/Emboss) for edge emphasis
Meow!
