Another interesting face

I found another interesting person, who graciously signed the model release allowing us to paint his most interesting face. Enjoy!

From my "some will think it interesting and some will be upset" file comes this interpretation.

Re: Another interesting face

Thanks, Janet, for the "interesting" photo. Fella looks like he knows something he ain't tellin'.

Steve, I like your interpretations. Well, OK, heh heh, the first one takes some getting used to.

Did this one in Artweaver, as usual, with textures added in CS2 (most of which got wiped out by the compression).

Yeah, and it took 5 pictures before I could get him to look up without moving his whole head in the process.

This is my take on this interesting fellow, who by the way, is an artist in his own right.

Peter - interesting, more than a little creepy, and very well done. Sort of a picture-of-Dorian-Gray thing going there. Nice.

Sometimes, you just have to go a little...

...whack with the oils.

Re: Another interesting face

a bit of dodge and burn, some rather odd inversions and blend modes (including exclusion, which i rarely use), some masks, eraser, fill mode and more eraser.

great face. and since folks mentioned his face being somewhat familiar, i couldnt help but notice while doing some of these odd inversions and blends, that there was a striking resemblance to mel gibson...under certain conditions.

I think Professor Craig, you nailed the reason for that "deja vu" feeling.

Tried a "low key" image.

Wonderful - "SHW?" from Korea. Would love to know your approach - bad English is fine!
Here's my version done in Painter using liquid ink pens.

Re: Another interesting face

I like the light touch. Looks like a combination of pencil sketch and charcoal smoothed with the fingers. Nice.
