I've been asked by a committee at my school to design a new poster for an upcoming seminar on oppression and I want to do a piece with battered women.

My question is, can anyone link me to a site with tutorials on how to create bruises, black eye's and minor cuts?

Just google them...then copy, paste and blend them in to the pic you are usiing as a base.

Good suggestion. Unfortunately Google (images) appears to be a good (if you can call it that) source. Search on keywords such as:

bruises
bruised women
battered women
