Warbird

I'm doing my part to remedy the reported dearth of aviation photos to play with by providing a couple of images of an airplane actually flying.

This is AT-6 "Texan", a WWII-era trainer. That's me in the rear seat. Long story.

Enjoy.

Palms,

I don't claim to have taken the photo. It was one of my sisters, if I remember correctly. We bought my dad a ride in this airplane for his 80th birthday a few years ago; he was an instructor in AT-6s during the War. He wanted me to get a ride, too, so I'd know what it was like, I guess.

He had a great time, by the way - he took the stick for a while, even did some aerobatics and told the plane's owner a few things about the aircraft he hadn't known before. I got to fly it briefly, too (but did no loops or rolls, needless to say).
