I used a adaptive equilization filter, i like the effect that you get, but do feel a bit of a cheat just doing a slight movement of the slider and pressing a buton

Cool, Palms. Nothing wrong with easy if you like the results. I just posted a tutorial on my website showing how to create an oil painting in two clicks in PS. I use it a lot. Even made an action. |

Standard PSE4 tools, equalize, highpass with radius 15, mode darken over neutral gray softlight layer, warming photo filter, layer copy with inked contours PSE filter 70% opacity.
