Creative help

Hi all I am wondering if anyone had any suggestions about what direction i can take this picture. I want to turn it into some sort of painting but my creative juices have run dry. This is one of my Boat photos i took whilst in Oman I could not choose the time of day since we were on our way through but i have cleaned it up as much as i can.

Edit: Added original size version. Please feel free to "play around"

Re: Creative help

Combination of Tone mapping, Sharp Control (stand alone program), GREYCstoration (selectively), and application of canvas was involved to create this one. Here's the full size, high quality version (attached is a low quality crop).

Re: Creative help

Nice!! I like both styles. I want to try something that will survive being blown up to A2 size. The original photo size is 8mp.

Re: Creative help

Admirer,

The photo needs more color so I did a curves adjustment using the pencil to clip colors along the base line at about 1/3rds. I liked the resulting colors, but overall the photo was too dark so I did a Shadow/Highlight adjustment. These two adjustments brought out color in both the boats and rock features that brought more interest to the photo. (File #1)

Last thing i did was run my "Photo-Art 101" method (see my tutorial) and here's the final result. (File #2)

Re: Creative help

Nice one Lonnie.

First noise reduction.
Used Magic Enhancer Lite (thanks Palms for the link)
Diffuse - Aniso
Duped then Redfields++ overlaid and then faded back a little.
Colour added with flaming Pears Zephyr and faded with soft light.
Texture with Impressionist - overlaid - and opacity reduced to taste of course.

All the plugins used are freebies (love the price)

Nice pic to work on this.

Peter

Re: Creative help

The original photo is so good that making something "artsy" out of it sound like a very tough challenge...
So I just did some retouching on the pic.
