Re: Spring Flowers

Palms - That is a cool effect on the first. I've never seen such. How about a how-to?
Steve - Brilliant painterly.
Keiser, Janet, Swampy - nice OOB interpretations. Y'all inspired my take.
Alan - Your smudge is great. I wish I could smudge with PhotoImpact
Peter - Very 3D. Looks like a nice soft silk quilt.

Re: Spring Flowers

Great photos Alan. Here is my framed version, ready for the family museum. The second version is what the painting might look like after hanging in the museum for several hundred years.

Re: Spring Flowers

In GIMP, used Mathmap with Pisco Bandito's Droste script (sorry, he no longer shares it, so I, out of respect for this fantastic artist, will not post it, but I will give credit where credit is due) and the ported the result in CS2 for Amazing Circle Action work (like CS2's ability to do this better then GIMP).

Thank you Lonnie, i have been experimenting lately this is a real easy thing to do in ps not sure if it can translate to other software

paint your picture any way you want i chose a watercolour effect

Then take a snapshot and select it ( or close the image and reopen it )
open a new layer above this fill with a pale colour if wanted then
select the history brush and using any brush ( this one was a scroll one ) with opacity at about 30% "bring back " your image going over as many times as you want to get a effect/depth that you like

here is a couple of links to some brushes that i have found this week for ps7 and above i got the scroll one from the second link but not sure which set !

These are also for Gimp

Re: Spring Flowers

Cardmnal, your flowers are very inspiring.

The interpretations here are some of the best art work I've enjoyed. Really top notch.

I was halfway done with this piece when my daughter called all bubbly and excited to tell me that she received her engagement ring last night. So I hope you don't mind the gooey sentiment on my part.

Thanks for the explanation, Palms. I really need to get Photoshop. I love my editor, but it keeps coming up short for stuff I really want to try/do.

Janet, congrats to the kids and that is an excellent artistic interpretation of the photo.
