Re: Aground

Great shot of this little boat maybe in trouble. Like many of you I got rid of ropes etc to give more of a freed look. Used a water color style and a vignette of sky color to froame it.

Re: Aground

Saby..
Glad you liked that version and I wish I could claim the credit for it, sadly there wasn't much skill/talent needed.
First I tone mapped it using open source software 'qtpfsgui'
Then cloned in painter using 'dens brushes' as follows
1. Sky and Sea using 'oil soft round messy' variant and retouched wave and cloud highlights where they were washed out in the cloning.
then blended each at different strengths with 'oil soft colour blender'
2. Boat painted using 'oils brush luscious' variant.
3. Added lighting, texture and frame in PS.

Happy painting

Aground in a squall. It's a bit like the weather here.- still it's only water!

Regards to all.

Re: Aground

On the second thought selective coloring is the way to go...

Re: Aground

Joe, thanks for finding this and bringing it back. Love the way you brought out the colors. Like others, I went with a watercolor also.

Re: Aground

After looking at all the well crafted versions of this grounded boat I'm a tad hesitant to upload mine. But still...I think I've agressively artified this gorgous photograph.
After altering hue and adding a night time sky with topaz adjust and light from the cabin, this went through Imressionist for some additional brushwork. Couldn't think of anything else to add!
