Paint Away - Harbor Side

This one needs some color adjustment, but should be fun to paint.

I didn't paint mine at all. I just applied lots of textures and texture mapping.

Re: Paint Away - Harbor Side

Great photo for honing some skills Swampy. I had fun tweaking colors, etc. Then I threw all of it out and went for a colorized cartoon. Go figure.

Nice, Palms. What technique do you use for your embossing? It certainly adds to the over all effect.

I can't count the number of times I've started over on a project, Peter. I guess that "getting there" is part of the challenge of doing a nice piece.

Thank you Swampy I used Peter's favorite on this one Redfields bas relief not only for the embossing but for the outline as well ( which is what i use it for most )

Re: Paint Away - Harbor Side

Hi everyone -- this is my first post, I just could not resist playing with this perky little Sydney Harbour Ferry cos yep, you guessed it, I live in Sydney (Australia) The pic shows the Fishburn near the fantastic Aquarium at Darling Harbour, an inner part of Sydney Harbour.

Thank you all for your wonderful generosity in sharing your talents and knowledge, I am looking forward to spending many happy hours here and hopefully contributing something useful as well.

Cheers!

Re: Paint Away - Harbor Side

Thought I would try Emboss...

copy BG layer, Levels, curves, shadow/highlight, sharpened..
copy layer, Filter>stylize>emboss... set layer luminosity, 75% opacity
new layer from BG copy set on top of layers set at soft light..
Merge all visible, final curves and sharpen, minor crop, save for web..

Rhasval... That is really, really nice. Love the texture you applied and the soft watercolor is very well done.
