Looks like Dogwood on Cypress. Nice combination of delicate and roughness.

I would think that's a combination only found in that belt from southern Georgia across to Louisiana, Steve. And I think you are right. Nice version!

Would have guessed Kudzu had it not been for the blooms. Guess it's not thick enough either.

LOL, Steve. Now you'll have all the yankees wanting to know what kudzu is. Let's see, how do you explain, Kudzu? An obnoxious vine that grows in the south and literally takes over everything in sight. Telephone poles are not exempt. It smothers and kills any vegetation it covers. It can grow at a rate of 1 foot a day. Beware of kudzu! (But it makes great cattle feed).

Alexmeta, great work. I think the flowers would "pop" a little more if you mask out the blue color cast. They would be dynomite against that deep blue background. JMHO

You nailed it! That's Kudzu. I've seen it cover whole barns and abandoned houses too.

I have heard that it was originally brought from Japan to plant on hills etc to prevent erosion.

Swampy, thank you for you comments.
May be you are right, especially if you look it at distance with “squint” eyes (sorry for my poor English, don’t allow me to express exactly as I want).

Stop it Swampy! I'm falling off my chair.

It was bound to happen I guess. A song about Kudzu, and what further knocks me out is that it is a very good piece of music they put those words to.

Thanks for letting me in on it.

Emulating Giuseppe Arcimboldo

Well, not exactly, but this technique has some potential. It uses GIMP's Resynthesizer filter (no longer distributed with the latest release of GIMP, but still can be downloaded). I first created a texture swatch of what I want to apply to the target. I then created an input map with selective colors (see all attached for info). I then create the output target that I want to create. Pretty simple stuff, but it takes a lot of time for Resynthesizer to render on my poor ol' machine. lol

Re: Creative Interpretations - Woodland Flowers

Thanks all; still not a Jigsaw Image Mosaic, but pretty cool stuff. It has a whole lot of applications too. Below's the link to the official site (I figured the above out, but I'm sure someone else has a tutorial describing the same technique since this gem more then lends itself to do this).

Re: Creative Interpretations - Woodland Flowers

Nice renditions all around. Looks like I need to take a look at Gimp, pretty neat. Mine; I colored the flowers, stripped the color from the background and replace with moss. Merged detail by flowing colors together and changed to square format.

Re: Creative Interpretations - Woodland Flowers

I was going to see what they looked like as wallpaper, so I tried Redfield's Seamless workshop, (yes another freebie), that was too busy so I played with several embossing effects and colour tweaks.
