Made everything red-yellow, highlighted the face area, applied traditional war paint and upgraded his bangles to gold.

Thanks for sharing and for the play Dee Dee. Had some help from Toadies Metalwork and Xero's Supersmooth filters.

Re: Creative Interpretations - A Chief in the Maki

Swampy,
Your pictures are worse than potato chips - ya can't do just one.

I keep thinking that I'll just take a "relatively" few minutes and submit one. Yah Right!!

I end up doing a dozen or more and then have to choose a couple of favorites. And before that I have to find where the heck I managed to store them.

Normally, my approaches work better on buildings or landscapes but this picture lent itself better than most.

The one on the left is a Danny R action that I rediscovered a few days ago and the one on the right is a Pencil Pixels action. Both have several tweaks along the way.

Regards

Bob Mc

Only trying to make a handful of nickels Palms. lol

And Dee Dee; names Lyle, not Lonnie (man, I wish I would have stuck with my usual handle when I joined RetouchPRO, but I didn't at that time and I guess it's too late now; lol).

I'm so sorry, Lyle... My bad. I'd blame it on old age, but that would be an excuse and there is no excuse for forgetting your name. :-(

Re: Creative Interpretations - A Chief in the Maki

Progress came and took its toll,
And in the name of flood control,
They made their plans and they drained the land,
Now the glades are going dry.
And the last time I walked in the swamp,
I sat upon a Cypress stump,
I listened close and I heard the ghost,
Of Osceola cry.

John Anderson, "Seminole Wind". It's almost an anthem around here.

I'll bet it is, Swampy...and you've got to hear it sung to really appreciate it.

Re: Creative Interpretations - A Chief in the Maki

OK, I did 'em so I might just as well post 'em

Both are created with actions along with a number of tweaks to various layers

The left one is done with one of Danny R's actions called Art - Watercolor 24 djr
On the right is a commercial action that creates a large number of layers for adjusting/refining

Both I think, create nice watercolor effects - Hope you agree

Phew, maybe my last postings for the year.

Regards and Happy New Year to all

OK, this is my first try at this, so please be gentle

I didn't try anything very original, just played around with PS filters and different layers.

Re: Creative Interpretations - A Chief in the Maki

Definitely some cool renditions since I last posted. Some of you may already know that I've been on a quest to emulate those metallic magazine cover captures (monochromatic) that I've recently been seeing in the newstands (mainly on Innographx, but also DPReview's site). Think I'm getting close, but the closer I get, the more convoluted the process becomes. Sorry, just too convoluted for me to really explain, but I basically mask the lights from the darks an do a mirror finish on the darks (require any type of distortion method you like), and a metallic finish on the ligher areas.

Re: Creative Interpretations - A Chief in the Maki

I love the picture, and everybody's interpretations of it.

For mine, I increased saturation and contrast. Darkened the edges of the foreground, and used impressionist on the background.

Enjoy!
