Re: Fruity

Thanks Palms. I'm finally getting back into the swing of things. It feels good to be doing this again.

Re: Fruity

This fruit has been tempting me for days now. Even with all the great interpretations, no one moved it into the realm of renaissance with its dark, moody lighting. I thought I'd try. Even though it didn't measure up to my expectations, here it is.

Corrected for color and tone.
Added a huge vignette.
Fiddled with a couple of filters and blending modes.
Created a copy of the whole document, saved the original, then merged the copy.
Created a duplicate layer and used the AHB for strokes and a painterly texture
Merged visible onto a new layer and sharpened it.
Used selections and the selective color adjustment layer to tweak areas that didn't have the right tonal values.
Made cracks (although I had trouble with the emboss feature and didn't use it, imagine the cracks embossed a bit as if cracked all the way to the primer).
Canvas texture with a mask over areas so the texture is spotty.

I really have a taste for tangerines now!

I took the liberty and added a little bit of a background, courtesy of sxc.hu.

Re: Fruity

Thanks Janet! Your interpretation actually inspired me to look "outside of the box" and although I didn't end up with anything like yours, it did take me outside of the the box.
