Cool Palms. It looks almost like a reflection with those swirly leaves.

Indeed... great pic.

I took a shot at a BW conversion. I copied each channel onto separate layers and use blend modes and layer masks to isolate the "best" from each layer, plus Curves adjustment layers to increase contrast.

Adding the wide black border seemed to give the illusion of more contrast.

Re: Creative Interpretations - Board Fence

Wow! Many thanks to all...nice comments...all appreciated.

How did I do it...well believe it or not it started out as a watercolor which I did not really like, so I added some Buzz and to bring back a little detail I ran USM on it. That's really about it.

Sometimes you luck out when you can't decide what you want.

Thanks again.

Re: Creative Interpretations - Board Fence

Interesting, Steve. I never thought to run Buzz on a painted layer, but I can see where it would tend to really smooth things out.

You could make money, Craig. The folks that wrote Buzz have apparently gone out of business. A Filter Forge version would be quite popular, I'm sure.

Re: Creative Interpretations - Board Fence

Buzz is a simplifier. It reduces detail in a photo on a sliding scale.

Can't donate a copy, but here is an example of Buzz in action on Swampy's wagon. This is a simple simplification using only one of the many settings.

Re: Creative Interpretations - Board Fence

ah, yes, that would be quite useful! hmmm....

ok, so you could reduce based on any number of things, i take it, like brightness, opacity, hue, and so on. hmmmm.....

Re: Creative Interpretations - Board Fence

After so many fine interpretations, I had to take a crack at this one. Painted in photoshop using the PaintEngine plugin.

There are many settings which can be used alone or in combination with others.

Check out this pdf file on Buzz. http://www.atncentral.com/PDF/Buzz-Pro-2_lr.pdf

Re: Creative Interpretations - Board Fence

thanks, steve and thanks olbaldy for the pm

ok, so would this be somewhat like what buzz does? this is not my FF filter. i simply found it in the FF library. it's called 'comic - art'.

Re: Creative Interpretations - Board Fence

That FF did simplify, but the basic Buzz doesn't add black outlining. Your post looks more like a PS Watercolor filter has been applied.

Re: Creative Interpretations - Board Fence

ah, ok. so simplify without the edgework. cool thanks, dee dee

i did try making one of my own. limited results so far. i can isolate parts of an image and blur those parts, but what i've read in the .pdf and here, so far, buzz did things without blurring, so i'll have to take another tack.
