| | | Creative Interpretations - Cracker Trail Ride So, on the cowpony theme... Every year there is a group of Florida cowboys that ride the "Cracker Trail" from Bradenton, on the west coast, to Ft. Pierce, on the east coast of Florida. The "Trail" is loosely based on the routes that the old Florida Cracker cowboys used to drive cattle to market on the coasts. It takes about a week for the riders to transverse the "Trail", but it can be done in just a couple hours via car. They camp at various working cattle ranches along the way. Meals are provided via a real "chuck wagon". |

I'm afraid my seat wouldn't take it. Always looks like great fun.

Steve C. | Mine wouldn't either. The Riders do pass through Sebring where the Cracker Trail (SR 66) crosses US 27 and becomes US 98. I took this photo about 2 miles west of that intersection. They spend half a day at Sebring's Cracker Trail Elementary School. I bet you can imagine the breauhaha naming that school caused. The "locals" won the day though. :-) |

Well, they do a lot of pickin and grinnin along the way. It's like a bluegrass festival every night and if you want to join in just bring your instrument and have at it. |

| | | Re: Creative Interpretations - Cracker Trail Ride We used to have an old cheap faded yard sell painting hanging at our camp that looked something like that picture when I was a kid. Still got the camp but the painting is gone. I think I'm going to check the attic next time I'm there. Maybe it's worth something now if the mice haven't munched on it! You never know.
