Re: Cute Feral Kitten

Palms,
Being a Photographer for many years and trying to keep everything in sharp focus, I am afraid I am more of a Realist in the art world (which is why I find it hard to "Artify" or move the pixels around to make a painterly effect)
so I think I prefer the less smudged one.. BUT... the "Smudge-A-Lot" looks MUCH more Artistic and painterly.. As a painting it would go on my walls..

It boils down to... I like them both a lot!

I am impressed with everyones work in this forum.. You and the others are ALL True Artists!
It's just hard for me to step out of my box.. and mess with a perfectly good picture!

Ol'B - I still feel the same way sometimes until I see one of Palms' smudges -- lovely images whether out of the camera or pushing pixels, and I guess their pixels don't feel any pain if we push them around a bit!

Here's mine - some edges, waterpaper, and charcoal/chalk.

OK; used your cleaned version, sharpened it up (extreme), and then ran GREYCstoration for the fake smudge.

LOL, Lyle.. I had to read "GREYCstoration" twice.. when I first read it, I thought you had cut something off the Grey cat... Your "fake version" looks pretty good!

Peter it looks like the kitty is saying "look how big I am!" with that glow around it

Molitar, a very serene look there

CJ, All that pixel pushin and you still have a cute feral kitten to show

Lots of superb diversification shown here

I like the "smudge-A lot" tag, that is much better than a "over the top smudge" , and that is the one i prefer out of the two

The cure to what you see as being un artisitic is easy,Try and take some rubbish photo's you will soon learn how to make them better by artifying them

Thanks all for your comments, and hopefully the kitten will soon find a new home ( I have had to tell a few that unfortunately the kitten is in the USA)

Tis a small world indeed.. I first saw Ronviers work on a Worth1000 contest.. (great work BTW) then found out he is one of the very helpful people in a couple Photoshop news groups I frequent.. Seems like a really nice and helpful person
yup, he's good guy, but i'm afraid he's fallen in with bad company... us, over on filter forge

palms, your technique is just getting better and better. loved both of those, but if i had to pick, i'd take the first one.

peter, i like that, but why did you rub his feet all over a carpet to make his hair stand on end?

not quite sure what you did there, molitor. care to elaborate?

interesting one, cj. the edges and watercolor mix is fairly unusual.

lyle, that's a fake smudge? i'm impressed.
