Jordan here are a couple done in the orton style, tut (postd by another member) here,
http://www.naturephotographers.net/a.../dw0106-1.html

another member uses it on her portraits (mainly B&W)and gets some nice results, I tried it on my 8 month old niece and they looked good too

Vitali- love the texture on your first one
JonathanL- nice job, welcome to RetouchPro
Craig- love the silver look!!
Lyle- very cool, what are you using to get that look?

and last, but not least
Joe-WOW! can you tell us how you did that?
Hey Jordan. This is basically what I did.

-Duplicated background layer
-Rotate 90 CW
-Other-Custom-Fade 50%
-Diffuse-Anisotropic-Fade 50%
-Plastic Wrap 4-15-9
-Colored Pencil 4-15-27
-Angled Strokes 52-9-3
-Rotate 90 CCW
-Set Blend to Screen
-Duplicated that layer
-Colored Pencil 4-15-27
-Set the blending mode to Hard Light
-Merged the two layers and set to Pin Light
-Alt+Click mask and painted in strokes

I played with the colors in Lab mode.

That’s basically it.

Joe

I started out using 3 Bar Sin gradient for gradient map (GIMP Gradient of course) before running Amphisoft's Xylograph filter for the stippling step.

Re: Sad motorbike

Joe, Peter, & Lyle-
thanks for passing on your workflow tips
can't wait to go play!

Kim- very nice
Pavel- love the colors on yours!

ETA-
Palms-thanks for the Orton link. I had never heard of him, but that is sort of what I used. A blurry layer and a sharp one.
