Most of the time I use layering and a plugin or plugins. I think I used Buzz and sketching mainly on this one. No non-Photoshop plugins.

Used "best of" individual color channels (layer masks, blend modes).

Stretched the right side of the final image a bit and cropped so the stairs would not be "right in the middle."

steve, i really like that. simple, clean and really brings out a nice old world flavor.

and alex, i really like your 2nd one, the dark one. i had considered doing a dark also, but now that i see yours, no need

palms, very moody, gritty. i like it

jordan, nice. hadnt even thought about giving it a worn look. nicely done

peter, also moody, but with a colored pencil sort of look. nice

that 2nd looks like a polar coordinates, lyle. havent seen any of those around here in a while.
