After you create your black and white sketch, use the dodge tool on the shadow areas to knock back some of the "skritchies" in the trees and cage area. This will leave the line art detail in the chickens and simplify the overall look of your art. It will help put the focus on the birds. Just a thought. |

| | | Impressionist Cave Painting preset to ... ...start things off (made a number of sizes modification to the preset). Then I blended back the original and some smudging. Also some edge detect burning to get some of the chicken details back. |

I had to try another one - PS and Painter again, using different brushes. And a different crop (oops - no pun intended).
I think I like this one better. |
