Easy to do with Three Bar Sin gradient mapping. Used Xero's Artworx filter for the brushed metal look at the end.

sorted the problem out with a bit of help ( No Peter not the cat )

My first thought when seeing this image, was that i could use it to try out the "Christian Schmidt" look ( from this post http://www.retouchpro.com/forums/pho...midt-look.html)
