Smile First Post Ever - Photo Painting from Wedding

So for my first post I am going to show a new image I think is completed from a picture I took at a wedding 2 weekends ago. It was a father and daughter picture that I knew was just right for a painting...so I thought I would share it here. I am still learning digital techniques... there are just soo many options! Let me know what ya think if you have the time. And I will try to post some more works soon.

Edit: I added the my original photograph from the wedding so that others could mess with it if you wanted too.

Thanks for the comment, I will try to keep updating images here as I can. Seems like a good site where people are considerate and actually talk about their works.

Guess I should have thought of using Flickr in the first place...
So here is a link to a detail shot of the same image from above.

Ohh and the first version I posted was exactly 100k, so I am not sure about what you were saying?

Edit: I see that your thing about the 100k is just a sig for all your posts...just a little confusing to see all the writing there. I thought it was part of your regular comments and was just confusing till I saw some of your other posts.

The parts beneath ~.~0lBaldy~.~ referencing posting is just a part of my signature and for general use for those who have questions about posting..

The larger version really makes the picture POP! Good Job!

For what it is worth... If you plan on printing your pictures on canvas.. you might want to leave the texture off... Just a thought. Others on here are much more knowledgeable about things like that and may have a different opinion..

Re: First Post Ever - Photo Painting from Wedding

Yeah I had just figured out it was part of your signature a bit ago

And yeah as far as the texture, I did that as a preemptive view to see what it could possibly look like with a pro print on a canvas. It is nice to try and get a little pre-viz texture. The only other thing I would try to do is add the thick clear layer that flows with the brush marks...but again this is all new to me doing it this way. I need to read a little or see if someone will drop me a note on if it is beneficial to leave that texture on or off depending on what your printing on or what the final goal of the piece is.

Swampy: I use Lightroom for the RAW image file manipulation, and then Painter along with Photoshop for the final touches.

Re: First Post Ever - Photo Painting from Wedding

I added the original photo to the post at the top so others can mess with it.
And thought I would also show another image I had thought about messing with by isolating the girl out. Might also look interesting as a painting or something?
