| | | Old Woman This weekend was the annual Fiddler's Festival and Competition. It brings pickers and grinners from all over the south. There is some wonderful music and lots of foot stompin' tunes to be heard as these musicians jam with each other. It is always a place for pictures. This lady came from down out of the hills to listen to the south's unique brand of music. She graciously gave permission to use her image.
Enjoy.

I had a go at smudging again... I purposefully avoid the kind of baby-doll smudging that I see on forums. It's just not my style...

| | | Re: Old Woman Wow, Janet - there's some history in that face, eh? Thanks to you and to her for letting us artify her.
I did some HDR-like tweaking with Redynamix in CS2, then Paintered her.

| | | Re: Old Woman Sylvia: WOW another great smudge. This one is a perfect companion to the one you did of the old man.
Dkcoats: You absolutely nailed this one. Just about perfect for this picture in my opinion.
Lyle: Interesting interpretation. This experiment looks a bit like the emboss filter on steroids. I can see it has lots of possibilities.
Steve Conway: WOW another great one and ditto what I said about Sylvia's. This one is a perfect companion to the old man.
Kimlou: I like the first one but the black has too much negative space. I'd crop it a bit. The second one...right on the money. I really like it.
Alcar: Very renaissance, mysterious and moody. I like this one a lot.
OlBaldy: Very interesting interpretation. Since I'm a weaver, this one struck me as being tapestry like. I kept coming back to it and seeing more each time.
Thanks all for participating. I absolutely love seeing what ya'll come up with.
Janet
