Re: First time go at Corel painter

I like the dog picture Carrie
I am at the moment studying Painter 10
I have ordered 11..It is a phenomenal program.
It depends on the brushes and how you tweak them for Dogs hair. This dog was my 2nd attempt at hair on a dog. The eyes were painted in Photoshop.

Re: First time go at Corel painter

For Corma,
There is also a smaller version of Painter called "Painter Essentials", although much simpler than Painter X almost as powerful. I think it is a great starting place to make Photo's into art.It even has videos to guide you through some techniques. I have studied under 4 different teachers online, the fastest and easiest way to start into this, is to first let the auto painting feature take over the photo, then go back into the photo and add your own brushstrokes..there are some nice effects to be had.
I actually use Photoshop and Painter hand in hand. The eyes in the cocker spaniel picture above took 1 hr to complete and had 13 layers to get the eyes to look natural.
I use filters prior to painter on some photos, such as flowers or trees. With these types of photos I use a filter that reduces the photo to a more painterly look before I even start on the artistic look. One of my all time favorites is called Buzz Pro.

Hope this helps
