Duck!

this ole boy wandered into my yard this evening and was kind enough to pose for me for a few shots. he really did pose for me, too. i'd walk around him like a fashion photographer on a shoot and he'd step and pose, turn his head and pose, turn sideways and pose, quite the ham. so, i just had to put him up in lights. it was getting on towards evening with the sun going down, so the lighting wasnt that great, but it shld be ok.

Re: Duck!

Aha, a break from flowers..

I thought sure I would see some Prose here by now..
So I guess I will start..

"He snitched the peacock's dressiest coat
and to top it off
his strutting walk
he stole from a duck."

(Al-As'ad Ibrahim ibn Billitah -
11th century Toledo)

steve, if i told you that no more than a week ago my backyard was almost underwater from flooding, you'd understand what a coincidence your image is. and, very nicely done. i like that

very nice, OB and though i'm not familiar with the prose piece, thank you for posting it

Wow! Glad to see it didn't stay.

BTW, our home owners association bought some Mallards and put them out in our area to keep the algae off the ponds. From those few we now have quite a flock. It's about time for their spring arrival again.

They feel free to wander up to our front door, sometimes with their little ones trailing behind, to see if we are giving handouts. We enjoy their company.

Re: Duck!

ah, you have ducks. we have geese, or rather, my folks do. they have a pond/lake and we had a nesting pair come in about 10 years ago. now, we have about 10 that come in regularly. we figure these are the offspring of the original pair. there's still only one nesting pair... usually. the last couple of years we've had two nesting pairs with the resulting chicks... cute

the original pair were pretty tame. dad used to go out and call them and they'd come and he'd drop some corn for them. they'd come up pretty close, but not quite eat out of his hand. the current pairs arent that tame
