Re: Converting Bitmap to Vector 2 Tone Art?

Its realy simple All I did was take the image in photoshop. Blew it up to 3000 pixels (so when i convert it later to vectors its large enough for a clean lines) Then i went to filter-artistic-cutout. Played with the controls till i got a look i liked. then I took the image into inkscape. (I dont have illustrator but you can do the same thing there) then converted each color over to vectors, using the bucket fill. Easy And fast. took me less then 5 mins

To change color, start by dragging and making a new layer.
After you do the live trace do live paint-make from the same drop menu.
Click in the image with the selection tool , then just choose color guide from your color pallet and then click on the little circle (mouse-over reads "edit or apply colors").
That will bring you to my screen shot and if you have the recolor art tick box checked (it defaults that way) your colors will update on the fly.
crazyfly: I do not seem to have "Color Guide" in my color pallet. I am using CS2, not 3 like you have. Could the feature be somewhere else?

Also, when I click the image it selects everything, so when I apply a new swatch I lose my image as everything is colored in. I still want 2 colors, but I just want to change the 2 colors used.

Any advice?

Thanks,
Nat

Sent you a PM back. Yeah for some reason when I select it selects everything and it's not a group. That's got me a bit stumped. Hmmm seems I need to consider the CS3 upgrade! LOL
