Creative Interpretations - Italian Masks 2

I love to paint subjects like this. You can really go wild.

1. Save a PSD copy of the original to the desktop to use later as a texture map
2. Dupe Background and run Filter>Noise>Median (enough to soften the photo)
3. Save Median Layer as your pattern Edit>Define Pattern
4. Below the Median layer add a layer filled with white for canvas background. 100% Opacity

At this point I usually turn off the pattern layer (in this case the Median Layer) so I can see the results of painting much better.

5. Above the Median layer add a layer and fill with a color (I used the eyedropper to select a salmon/orange color)
6. Apply the PSD file you saved to the desktop as a Texture. Texture>Texturizer>Load Texture and select your PSD file. Set Scale to 100% and the Relief to your taste.
7. On a layer above the texture layer, paint with the Pattern Stamp Tool with the Impressionist Option turned ON. (Be sure to select your saved pattern source from the pattern selecter in the options bar) Brush selection is up to you, so experiment here and have fun. Set the blend mode of this layer to Linear Light. (I ran the texturizer PSD again on this layer after painting)
8. Add a layer above and paint some more with the PST with Impressionist turned OFF (on this layer I painted back detail of eyes and facial features). Set this layer's blend mode to Color Burn. Run the texturizer again if you want.

Now go back and check blend modes and opacity on Texture Map layer (set to Overlay at 70% opacity) and Median Layer (opacity at 55%), Canvas Layer at 100% opacity).

Enjoy!
