What is it

Okay I know it's a flower.
I know I planted it years ago, but have forgotten what it's called.
It seeds itself every year and comes up in a different place, so it's always a surprise to see it again.
BTW I deliberately underexposed the pic thats why it's dark.

Link to larger original if you wish (800K+)

Enjoy.

Re: What is it

Wow Peter that is excellent and needs to be printed and framed

the flower is Nigella or common name Love in a mist. people dry the seed heads as well for dry flower arranging ( another photo opportunity there)

it also comes in white and pink and possibly a purple

enough gardening talk for you ?

Re: What is it

Amica_with_the_black_thumb - Thank you very much.
Palms I knew it would be you that would know the answer, and you didn't let me down, thanks. I'm looking forward to seeing your Smudge of this one (hint hint).

Re: What is it

Peter - Very striking result. The color choices, contrast, border shading and background design work very well together. Quite nice!

Illumina

Definitely a beautiful flower Peter and I do like what you did with it. Was going to see if I could copycat you, but this is what actually I ended up with.

As a side note, if anyone can identify this flower, please let us know.
