Boss was out and I love cats, so thought I'd play around. Nothing much... just basic light and color adjusting on a whim.

Now how could I not have guessed that you would not be posting anything that didn't like flowers.....8-)

Being a cat person, that was a nice one to work on.

Ikroll great sketch may have a try at something later with it, if you dont mind
Although i really like your smudge stick

Craig you are right sometimes just the prep works well, as this one does

Steve i am blaming YOU for this (cat's are well spooky ) My cat has not done this before but this morning there she was in middle of flower beds in the ornamental grass and carnations ( beware photo's to come when they open ) you must of put the thought into her head ! !

Re: Basil (cat)

Glad you liked the smudgestick work Palms. Been on a binge with that type for a few days now. Thought longer stroke smudgestick would work for this one. Mainly Impressionist/GREYC combo method again, but I had to add some additional clone work for cleanup. I also started out using Accelerating Daisies filter to give the overall impression.

Again, here's the rendering.

Re: Basil (cat)

Hello all my friends, Long time no see. Work is crazy so I am taking a couple weeks off, out of ANY airplane 'cause I am sick of getting SICK from everyone else. BoooHooo!

Palms, Nice shot (for a cat!) Not a big cat fan but I love the muted tones in your shadows and such.

Just did a part of one of my "painting with light" techniques. Hope you all like it.

Original Image >

Add new layer>

Fill said layer with 50% gray at 100% opacity>

Blending mode of said layer to Color Burn (This will make the image quite dard and saturated so tweak the opacity to your liking.)

You can freestyle your light beam or beams or use the straight line lasso tool to create your beam outline>

Fill in your beam with very soft, white, airbrush at about 2-3% and stroke in even strokes until it is as bright as you like>

Keeping the selection, I then used hue/saturation to warm it up or in CS2 you can use the warming filters in the Photo Filter section under image adjustments.

This is a great techique for still lifes for adding a nice directed beam onto certain areas such as labels etc.

Hope you like.

Now that's funny! Didn't know I had this kind of influence on cats.......especially from so far away too.

She's a beauty.

Glad your "other half" liked the smudgestick. Went oil brush on this one. Sort of Impressionistic looking though not pointillistic.

Click here and expand for the rendering.
