A Perfect Weather Day

these are pretty rare. we had one this last monday, june 30, 2008. a perfect weather day (to me) is one which is quite bright and sunny, warm but not real hot. there's a good cooling breeze blowing and it's just a pleasure to be outdoors. on top of that the sky has to be pretty much perfect also. it can be clear or cloudy, the big billowing type of clouds, but not overcast. the sky color also has to be that deeper blue, not the paler blue. the blue in these pictures i'm posting is the actual color of the sky that day; it's not photoshopped. it was just an amazing sky and an amazing day. so, i thought i'd share a bit of it with all of you

Looks like a perfectly pointillistic day to me Craig. Very saturated too.

Re: A Perfect Weather Day

oh, very cool, lyle!

thanks, MM. never thought of Utah that way. always thought, salt lake, rockies, and somewhat bleak, barren and hot. just shows how much i know.

palms, no, not a person against the tree. just an old stump or log bit or something. there used to be a fence row along there but it was bulldozed out this spring to clean things up and there's lots of bits like that one along there.

and what did you do to that pic, palms? each general element seems to have been defined more, separating things out more clearly. like, the field is much more clearly NOT the surrounding elements. there seems to be a very sharp division now between things. quite interesting. a sharpening type thing, maybe?

amica, very nice

but, you seem to have turned that farm field into a desert and i'm not sure the neighbor farmer would approve

Re: A Perfect Weather Day

LOL Craig, yeah maybe the field lost too much definition. Attached another try, giving them back the harvest :-)

Re: A Perfect Weather Day

Yep sort of a spherize.. tis one of the "Toadies 2" filters called "Turn Your Inside Out"... can be downloaded here
(after installing... it is found in the filter menu under "Distort")

I ran it a few times but decided to just use the center part over a fast and crude painting..

The middle came from this hubcap looking picture made from yours

Thank you for a ray of beautiful weather!

I had different visions for this when I began than the actuality of this finished picture. Nevertheless, here tis.

Beautiful shots, Craig -- so serene. Rather than a painterly, I opted to do just a photo enhancement.

Re: A Perfect Weather Day

Well, I just had to jump in and see how much I could mess up Craig's great photos.

Watercolor with PST and a little help from OnOne PhotoTools for some color adjustments

Re: A Perfect Weather Day

Thank you, Craig. For some reason this was hard to get the right luminosity for a watercolor, but it's such a great photo.
