My first post on Retouch PRO

I have been watching and learning here for a few months now. I am constantly amazed at the talent and willingness to share knowledge from all the members. Here is an attempt at a painting of a picture I took on the Oregon coast a few years ago. Please feel free to critique.

Tom

Re: My first post on Retouch PRO

Hi Tom...

Welcome aboard from a fellow Washingtonian ... just over the hill off I-90. My folks met/got married in Spokane many years ago and I have a cousin who lives there.

Excellent job of splicing in a more interesting sky. What program(s) did you use to make this one?

Look fwd. to seeing more of your creativity in the future.

Re: My first post on Retouch PRO

Danny,

I used CS3 for everthing, painting mostly done with AHB and a few filters.

Craig,

Great rendition, I would have never thought to do that.

Re: My first post on Retouch PRO

thanks, tom and welcome to RP. looks like yer gonna fit right in here

i was very tempted to leave all the yellow flowers in but as i started using the airbrush, the idea just kept evolving until i finally noticed i was making fog of my clouds and that took me to where i ended up

Like the starburst effect Craig (PamR?). My version's sort of hokey, but it is past 2am (always look for an excuse. lol).

Re: My first post on Retouch PRO

thank you, palms and lyle that was a fun one to work on.

i like yours too, OB. reminds me of a screened effect i once saw. i dont think it was an actual silkscreen, but there was a screen of some type involved

i dont quite understand the (PamR?) reference, lyle. what is that?

and as for your version, hokey? hehe, dont be too hard on yourself. i cheated using the starburst. i like your light better. the stars are a bit 'hokey' but we dont call it that; we just say they're more of an 'illustrated' style

Re: My first post on Retouch PRO

Oops!.. forgot my manners.. Sorry!

Tom.. welcome to RetouchPRO Hope you enjoy your visits here and make many new friends! The nice addition of the clouds make your painting POP.. Very artistic. Nice work.!

Craig.. Beautifully done, I think it would make a great movie poster!

Lyle.. I agree with Craig.. not hokey at all! I think the stars just differentiate and cement the complete transition from photo real to an Illustrative Painting.. I like it!

Swampy.. Love your Watercolors! Always a complete, well refined Package.. Lovely work!

Had to revisit.
My try at making a watercolor using a conglomeration of PS7 filters and settings
