Re: Cyclamen challenge ?

Two very different versions and both are excellent
Joe love the swirling shadows
and Lyle just adore that technique

Palms, I am constantly amazed at your smudges.. Great work!
Have you considered shooting your still life's like the Cyclamen in HDR?

Joe I love the way you played with the background and managed to sneak a cat in there!

Lyle the colors, brush strokes, and all blend together perfectly, Nice Job!

Peter, me thinks you have a passion for doing flowers because you always present an exquisite rendering.. a very nice job.. well done.

I tried a smudge cause they are flowers..

A cat? That's why I like flipping the pic's. You never know what will show up. I never put a cat in there. Maybe it's one of those ghost photos.

If nobody else sees it then maybe I am just tired or smoking the wrong stuff!

Re: Cyclamen challenge ?

I can see the cat but it wasn't a cat until I changed it to B&W and flipped it. All kinds of different shapes show up when you flip a pic and twist it up. I didn't do it on purpose.

Re: Cyclamen challenge ?

Glad I'm not crazy and someone else saw the kitty..

Palms, I find trying anything to do with smudging Hard!

This is the first time I have used the brush drop down menu.. the whole thing was done with the 'Scattered Dry Brush Small Tip' out of the 'Wet Media Brushes' group.. I like this brush because it has a round end, pointed end and long sides.. I adjusted the 'Shape Dynamics' a little and kept changing the brush angle using the 'Brush Tip Shape' dialog from the Brush menu to match the pointed things I was smudging.. blew the pic up to about 200% with the brush size about 70 at about 40% strength and just clicked away with about a million short strokes almost like stippling..
That changing the angle of the brush thingy came in pretty handy!
I just followed the lines, tried to get full coverage and tried to stay within the borders like my mommy taught me many years ago when coloring with crayons

The old lessons are the best. I'm glad to hear you did what your mommy told you, it worked, nice one.

Post as many flowers as you wish Palms, with millions of types out there, we are only scratching the surface of the subject here.

Palms, I liked your colors, so I just a did a little fiddling around with Impressionist.

Re: Cyclamen challenge ?

Shari that is nice, i dont always think of using impressionist then i get envious when people get good images from it

Ol Baldy of course us moms are right ( keeping within the lines) but sometimes rules can be broken, have a go at going over the edges for some different effects

Glad you said that Peter as i have had some flowers today and will be getting the camera out tomorrow
